Battle of the Sexes

When Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) becomes the number-one women's tennis player in the world, she questions why male tennis players are making more than 10 times what she earns. She doesn't get a reasonable answer, so along with other top female tennis players, she and her manager (Sarah Silverman) refuse to participate in any of the tournaments that have been organized that don't offer equal pay, and form their own tour.

Meanwhile, former tennis champ Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) is living a great post-tennis life with his wealthy wife (Elisabeth Shue), but he misses the thrills of the sport. Calling himself a male chauvinist, he challenges Billie Jean to a match that has a $35,000 purse attached to it. Billie Jean turns it down, believing it to be nothing more than a ridiculous stunt. However, Riggs doesn't give up, going to great lengths to get Billie Jean to play him in a "Battle of the Sexes."

Happy Death Day

When college student Tree (Jessica Rothe) is woken up by the sound of her cell phone ringing, she's surprised to find herself in a strange dorm room, greeted by a young man named Carter (Israel Broussard). She makes her way home in her party clothing, where her roommate advises her to switch to water next time and reminds her not to be late for her own birthday party.

Tree goes to a nightclub to celebrate her birthday, and winds up in a dorm room, where a masked madman stabs her. She wakes up in the same dorm room, reliving the day over again. Thinking she can stop her murder from happening, she stays home, only to have the murderer track her down there and the next morning, she again wakes up in the dorm room. When she tells Carter what's going on, he advises her to try to solve the murder, since she has unlimited time to figure out the identity of the masked killer.

Home Again

Alice (Reese Witherspoon), a recently separated mother of two, lives in Los Angeles with her precocious young daughters. Months after her separation, her best friends take her out for dinner on her 40th birthday and encourage her to begin dating again.

Hesitant about dating so soon after her separation, Alice takes three charismatic young men (Pico Alexander, Nat Wolff and Jon Rudnitsky) as roommates to live in her house to make ends meet. She begins to fall for one of them, but then her husband, Austen (Michael Sheen), suddenly reappears on the scene, telling her he wants to give their marriage another chance.

Stronger

Drama, 116 min

Jeff Bauman (Jake Gyllenhaal) is desperately trying to win back his girlfriend, Erin Hurley (Tatiana Maslany). When she collects money in order to run in the 2013 Boston Marathon, he helps her get support and makes a sign to hold for her at the finish line.

Since Jeff is always either late to everything or a no-show, Erin doesn't expect him to show up. Bombs go off just as she's approaching the finish line, but not until she sees a badly injured Jeff being carried away from the finish line, does she realize he actually was there. 

With his lower legs blown off, Jeff has to go through a long healing process, not just physically but emotionally. Erin discovers that Jeff's family may not always realize what's best for Jeff's recovery and she struggles to be a positive influence in his life, while questioning her role in it.

The Mountain Between Us

Surgeon Ben  Bass (Idris Elba) and successful writer Alex Martin (Kate Winslet) survive a devastating plane crash in the mountains where they are forced to band together, trust one another and find safety while badly injured. Ben, with broken ribs, and Ashley, with a terrible leg fracture, must work together to weather the elements and escape the unforgiving wilderness.

Throughout their struggle, they learn more about each other and begin to fall in love.

Based on the 2010 novel by Charles Martin.

The Snowman

Thriller, 119 min

Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) is the lead detective of an elite crime squad that's investigating the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is mysteriously found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman.

While uncovering information about the case, he begins to suspect that an elusive serial killer may be at work again. He comes to the realization that if he wants to prevent another murder from occurring before the next snowfall, he'll have to connect decades-old killings.

Victoria & Abdul

Queen Victoria (Judi Dench), at the time the longest serving monarch in history, meets a clerk named Abdul (Ali Fazal) when he travels to England from his native India for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee — which symbolizes 50 years on the throne. His mission is to present the monarch with a ceremonial coin. 

Although he is warned not to make eye contact with Victoria, the young man can't help himself and looks at her when he approaches the Queen. Thus begins an unlikely friendship between Victoria and Abdul.

Based on Shrabani Basu's book of the same name, Victoria & Abdul: The True Story of the Queen's Closest Confidant.
